Explorer Officers Elected

Perrysburg, Ohio – October 9, 2003 – The Perrysburg Court Law and Government Explorer Post 2306 membership elected officers to lead them during the coming year.  David Prephan is President, Sara Walker is Vice-President, JoJo Ginn is Secretary, and Karl Meyer is Treasurer.

The members are planning a number of hands-on activities including assisting the court in the annual candy x-ray on Halloween, a tour of the Bureau of Criminal Identification & Investigation Lab, and participating in the regional mock trial competition co-sponsored by the Supreme Court of Ohio.

The post is always open to new members, young people 14 to 20 years old who have completed eighth grade. The group meets at least once a month to learn about careers in law and government through hands-on projects, tours of law facilities and government offices, group discussions, and guest speakers. The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, October 23, at 4:00 p.m., in Jury Room 2 of the Perrysburg Municipal Court.

The Post will compete in the 2004 Ohio Center for Law Related Education Mock Trial Competition on Friday, February 20, 2004.  The case scenario this year involves the confession of popular high school student accused of leaving a backpack containing a home-made bomb under the bleachers at a political rally.  The students will argue the case in a real courtroom setting.
