NEW MOCK TRIAL COACH FOR PERRYSBURG EXPLORER POST #2306

Perrysburg, Ohio – September 28, 2004 –Perrysburg Court Law and Government Explorer Post #2306 eagerly awaits delivery of materials to begin preparation for the twenty-second annual Ohio Mock Trial Competition.  Attorney Peter R. Casey, III, has joined with attorney John P. Donahue and Judge S. Dwight Osterud to coach the Explorer Post team to victory.

Each year The Ohio Center for Law-Related Education (OCLRE) creates a fictitious case involving a constitutional issue.  The case this year is Biotex Labs LLC vs. The Animal Rights Foundation, the first civil case scenario.

To maximize student learning in competition, a team of students must participate as both plaintiff and defendant, and participate in two trials against different teams.  More than 390 Ohio high school teams will compete in 31 districts on February 11, 2005.  District winners from throughout the state will advance to the state competition to be held in Columbus, March 10-12, 2005.  The state winner will travel to Orlando, Florida to compete in the national competition.  Visit the OCLRE website at www.oclre.org for additional information about the Ohio Mock Trial Competition.

The Perrysburg Municipal Court launched this Explorer post in 2001 to give community youth the opportunity to look into the world of law and government as a career choice and to participate in law and government activities.  It is part of the Exploring Learning for Life’s career education program.  Find out more about Exploring at www.learning-for-life.org.  New members are always welcome.  Visit the court’s website at www.perrysburgcourt.com/Gen/explorer, and call 419-872-7915 for additional information.
